Sixth Man: (n) orig.Los Angeles, 1) Adam Morrison | FTW

Baller. Shot Caller. Likes to Holler.

Adam Morrison is the definition of a sixth man. You know, the guy who doesn’t start, but still brings a lot to the game. He brought his tie, his jacket, and his stache to every game of the 2010 NBA Finals.

Despite being a Laker, injuries kept Adam from playing at all during this year’s NBA Finals. This well edited youtube video helps visualize exactly what he added to this championship caliber team. I say, he’s the spark that ignited the fire that is the LA Lakers.

Website Design | FTW!

Elegance and Design, go together like Cheese and Wine.

After trolling the internet for days, the people at the headquarters of wtforftw.com have found an interesting website than combines intriguing content with tasty design. Dustin Curtis describes himself in one line at the bottom of his site “My name is Dustin Curtis. I make user interfaces.” Being someone who has limited experience with topography, I’m easily pleased with his designs. (This is where someone might make a joke about the font Papyrus) His color choices and user experience on his website is generally spot on. I find browsing the content to be a swift and enlightening affair. Take the design captured above. You would think it’s a desktop on a sleek macbook pro, but in reality it is a cleverly designed webpage.

This particular page discusses the hiring process of most start-up companies. He goes into great detail how hiring low-level positions first often dooms a company to be poorly managed and ultimately fail. It’s an interesting paradox, Do I need a senior advisor or an entry-level designer first? Does talent or experience matter more?

In reading the comment section of his webpage, I gathered a few intelligent responses about the subject matter.

Technology is dominated by two types of people: those who understand what they do not manage, and those who manage what they do not understand.
- Putt’s Law

Does this apply to other industries? Is it merely a joke referring to the rapid pace of technology development and the ability for the young, plastic mind to overtake experience?

Perhaps this post asks too many questions?  At the end of the day, you should check out Dustin Curtis’s page in its entirety.

Pack Heat when you Fly, It’s Safer!

This is what Boom Boom Pow actually looks like

Welcome to the 21st century, here we have rules that will make your life terrible. We are scared beyond belief for our safety that when we fly, the TSA will soon see us naked and our baggage is a mandatory victim of rape. Here’s one rule that might come in handy though:

Weapons have a special place in the TSA’s heart. They don’t dare lose them in flight.

A “weapons” is defined as a rifle, shotgun, pistol, airgun, and STARTER PISTOL. Yes, starter pistols – those little guns that fire blanks at track and swim meets – are considered weapons…and do NOT have to be registered in any state in the United States. Read the rest of this entry »

Click Me to Adopt Me! PLZ!

Sorry for the absence, kids! Ever since I became captain of the equestrian water polo team, it seems like I have no time.  Anyways, time for some groundbreaking material that is sure to frost your cupcakes!

Long relationships (marriage included) have many positive attributes. Emotional bonds, stability, and mutual understanding are a few of the many benefits. But after a while, the physical aspect can begin to lose its LUSTer. (pun intended) In short, people can get bored with each other. But no longer, thanks to the Adopt a Hot Chick Program!

Catching Birds The Easy Way! | FTW!

Have you ever been to Greenland? I’ve never gotten the chance, but this man wanted to show the world how it’s done. He literally sits on the side of a hill with a butterfly-esque bird net. Just when you think you’ve started to watch the lamest video ever, He catches a bird.

Native Greenlander shows what it takes to be a native Greenlander

Can’t Pass-up the Opportunity! | FTW!

‘Beer Chalk ‘Outline

Looks like a crime scene. But the only crime was passing out before his friends.

I think that the caps scattered on his body were a nice touch. Did they move him to the flat surface or did he make it easy on them?

England Covered in Snow! | FTW!

No green anywhere

Rather Impressive Sight, Yes?

Sometimes mother nature leaves no one spared. In a country as small as the United Kingdom, it appears that everyone got a taste of winter.

Temperatures of −18 °C (−0.4 °F) were recorded during the morning at Benson, Oxfordshire and Woodford, Greater Manchester in England. Over 10,000 schools closed across the UK due to very heavy snow and disrupted transport.

Another interesting Factoid: -40°C is the same as -40°F. Just ask the Scandinavians, They’ll tell you it feels the same.

I Want Me Some Airport Security! FTW!

When Patdowns aren't enough, what's next?

Who here hasn’t been through an airport? Good, no one raised their hands. Now, Who here has enjoyed their security screenings with the valiant TSA?

There has been a spike in airport security conversations lately because of the attempted bombing by al-Qaeda on Christmas Day. This discussion is rightfully an important one. It all boils down to the simple question: Which is more important, Security of Privacy?

Technological advances have brought us to a new technology that allows security officers to scan potential passengers at a very personal level.

Family Guy’s Stewie is a PIMP | Typography FTW!

This FTW! sheds some light on a not too popular youtube video that is full of creativity. Caution, wonderment will ensue from watching this video. You’re intensely encouraged to view full screen and click the HD button, its much cooler that way.

Wheres My Money -- Family Guy | Typography | HD

Typography is a little known art form that I think is quite spectacular. It gives the viewer the power to both imagine and see exactly what the creator has in mind at the same time. This video (as of 1/3/09) has only 18,000 views on youtube! That’s just ridiculous. The author obviously spent some serious time drawing this up.
